Your scenes are yours.
SceneLingo turns photos you choose into private language-learning scenes. Personal scenes are saved to your account and are not published as public courses or exposed through public sharing links.
What SceneLingo handles
We handle the account email you provide, session and security records, the photos you choose, generated lesson text and Labels, optional generated audio, usage and Credit records, and limited operational logs. If you explicitly enable location for a capture, the saved scene may also contain approximate coordinates and accuracy information.
How photos and AI work
Your browser resizes a selected photo and converts it to JPEG before analysis. The photo and your learning settings are sent over HTTPS to the SceneLingo service and then to the configured Google Gemini model to identify visible objects, actions, and useful expressions. Optional generated voice and Scene Tutor features also send the text required to create that audio to the configured AI provider.
Do not upload a photo you do not have permission to use. Avoid documents, passwords, financial information, children’s identifying information, or anything you would not want processed by an AI service.
Storage and visibility
Account and usage records are stored in Cloudflare D1. Saved scene documents, photos, and generated media are stored in Cloudflare R2. Browser preferences and learning progress may be stored on your device. Private photos and scene documents are not available in an offline Gallery. Account-specific preferences are cleared when you sign out or change accounts.
Personal scenes remain account-private. SceneLingo’s separately reviewed Today and Lessons content is public platform content; it does not turn your personal scenes into public lessons.
Retention and control
Saved scenes and their media are retained while the service is operating and the scene remains in your account. Security, audit, Credit, and billing records may be retained longer where needed to prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and maintain an accurate ledger. Expired sign-in links and sessions are periodically cleaned up. AI responses are stored privately for up to 24 hours so a connection failure can be retried without paying twice. A hashed email claim and minimal Credit records are retained to prevent repeated trial grants after account deletion.
You can delete individual scenes in My Scenes, export scene data, or permanently delete your account from Account & data. Account deletion also queues removal from SceneLingo email reminders; the email address stays in that cleanup queue until the provider confirms removal. Access is revoked immediately; queued file deletion normally runs within 24 hours. Backups can retain data for the provider’s recovery window and must not be restored without reapplying deletion records. You may also request help by emailing privacy@goodthing.app. We will verify that the request belongs to the account before acting.
Service providers and safeguards
SceneLingo uses Cloudflare for application delivery and storage, Google Gemini for selected AI generation, and an email provider for account links and reminders. Payment infrastructure exists but no subscription is currently sold. If you opt in from Account & data, we collect a small set of learning events linked to your internal account ID for up to 90 days. Events exclude photos, lesson text, email addresses and location. Disabling this option stops new event collection; deleting the account removes its product events. We limit request sizes, require authenticated access to personal scenes, protect sessions with secure cookies, rate-limit sensitive operations, and keep provider keys on the server.
Changes
If the product later adds public creator publishing, a teacher platform, new providers, or materially different retention rules, this notice must be updated before those features are opened.
